As we rejoined the party Kjell returned from his scouting, and boggled at the scene of dead Centaurs. He could not believe that what he knew to be good creatures had attacked us. It took his fellow dwarf, Idrin, to finally persuade him that they had made an unprovoked attack on us. Finding out that Kjell could have spoken to them, we decided to backtrack the Centaurs’ trail and investigate where they came from.

After a short while we noticed thin trails of smoke rising above the trees, and Andrei went to investigate. He returned, telling us of a Centaur village up ahead. Benedictus thought it worth investigating, in order to see if we could form an alliance with them.

We were soon found by a Centaur patrol, and after surrendering our weapons we were taken before the chief, who told Kjell about the war between the Centaurs and the Giants. It turns out that the Giants are led by an evil Centaur that summons Demons in the name of his own dark god. We told him of our quest to a nearby dungeon, and he offered us the aid of one of his best scouts, a female named INSERT_CORRECT_NAME_HERE, and bade us welcome to stay the night. We, of course, accepted.

That night I woke in the middle of the night – we were being attacked! They turned out to be some form of snow demon ape creatures, and were very resistant to my weapons. For most of the battle I was reduced to just trying to block their blows while furiously casting magics in order to better acquit myself. Just as Kjell returned with help I laid the last creature to rest with my spear, and we took stock. These creatures has attacked just our tent, which to me means that we were being watched by the demon summoning Centaur, either by magics, or by a spy in our midst. My companions, however, seemed more interested in regaining our lost sleep, so I shelved my concerns for a future time.

In the morning we decided to go to a nearby town in order to try to procure magical supplies. So we made a detour to the hut to pick up all our trade goods, then went to this town and sold nearly all of it in order to get magical protection for three of our teammates.

Thus protected we then made our way towards the dungeon we needed to visit. As we neared our objective, we came across a bridge defended by what Benedictus described as a White Walker – a large, icy, skeletal being – mounted on an equally large and impressive Elk. The battle with this creature was as impressive as it was short. In less than 20 seconds it had nearly killed Kjell, left Andrei unconscious on the ground, and almost tore Idrin to shreds before we managed to kill it.

After a short rest to heal up we continued into a valley, and by late afternoon came across three statues. The statues showed the three aspects of Fate: The Maiden, the Mother and the Crone. We stopped and pondered the clues that the birds had given us.
